1979 Gaja Barbaresco - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco (6/18/2016)
Really gets gong after a 7 hour decant. Great nose of chestnut, hazelnut, rose petals, raspberry, Indian spice and earth. It really sweetens up further in the glass and has jube-like fruit and a touch of licorice. Structure is still rock solid and there’s a fresh, tart whip of red fruits on the finish.
