Double decanted 5 hours. Wow, was this great. A light reddish brown, both the nose and mouth were ethereal. Much bigger than the light color suggested. Had it with walnuts, and that was a great accompaniment. If you’ve been waiting to drink this, now’s the time. Just fabulous.

I agree. I friend opened a bottle a couple of weeks ago and it was terrific. In my mind, light color in a Port is a really good sign – seems to indicate it might finally be ready to drink.
I opened one just the other day and was really happy with it. A pristine bottle must be absolutely incredible and probably has plenty of life left. My TN:
“Drank from a 375ml, signs of seepage, crumbly cork. Double decanted over 3 hours. Nose was a little reticent at first with a faint whiff of chlorine, color was very translucent brown, none of which filled me with hope… but in the mouth this was still a huge wine! Melted raisins, aniseed, cedar wood… lovely.”
Melted raisins? That’s serious tasting term territory.
