TN: 1976 Maison Leroy Meursault Les Chevalières

  • 1976 Maison Leroy Meursault Les Chevalières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (1/30/2025)
    Fairly dark colour with a copper edge. The cork had leaked but the wine was very good. Some struck match to the aroma along with citrus rind, spice and white mushroom. The palate has custard apple and a chestnut note. It is just starting to dry out a little and finishes with cumquat and grapefruit fruits and some smoky mineral.

Quite the string of descriptors there, verging on dangerous but sounds like it was a positive overall experience!

On colour alone plenty of people would have dumped it straight down the sink. The wine was lovely, complex and engaging.
