  I just got 2 of these for almost no money, and was very excited to try one. I have such fond memories of Cali Cabs from around this time, and opportunities these days aren’t getting more numerous.
  Anyway, the fill was great, the cork crumbled at the bottom, but that didn’t bug me. Very rich smell from the neck of the bottle. Carefully poured. Deep color, with not so much bricking. Just great on the nose, with a real tobacco note. In the mouth there is still fruit and lively acidity, making it deep and refreshing. A slight touch of port reminds of the age, and adds to the depth and complexity. This was a real treat.

I’m also a fan of Napa cabs of this era, and when one really hits the sweet spot, it’s a particular treat. I enjoyed several Inglenook cabs from the early 70’s a couple years ago, and they just soared.
