TN: 1975 Claret

During a dinner on the 5th August 2014, the '75 Montrose, Beychevelle, Certan de May, & d’Issan showed well (one of the bottles of the d’Issan was not good, the other was).

I find that many people wait too long on at least some of their bottles.

That said, I did have a couple of 1975 Haut Brion, the best of which was just 2 years ago. That wine was spectacular, all of the cliches of Haut Brion with its smoky note and dark brooding character. What a beautiful wine! Seemed almost a different beast from the Bordeaux to the north (have also had the 1975 Leoville las Cases, which is decent, but nowhere near the Haut Brion).

Never had it, but the 1975 La Mission Haut Brion is supposed to be very good–the wine of the vintage along with the Haut Brion.

That tumbler

It was most pleasant.

Thanks Thomas.
