TN: 1970 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve

Another nice one from last week…

1970 Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Georges de Latour Private Reserve - USA, California, Napa Valley (1/3/2015)
Overall, a very nice showing. Dusty cherry fruit with hints of cocoa and mint. Some leathery, cedar notes and a smooth mouth-feel. Held up nicely over an hour or so. Rounded and mature, a tasty old California Cabernet.

Dennis, glad to hear it is still showing strong, will have to try it soon. The '75 is also drinking well.

Fun. I have never had the 70. Had the 73 a few years ago and it was fading fast. I enjoyed the 79 as well.

Just posted my list of 2014 WOTY and the 1970 BV GdL is on it. A whole lot of funk when we first opened it, but it transformed into something heady and memorable in short order.

It was a nice surprise from my brother’s cellar. A good showing.

This one was in the groove. Hope you are well. Jason!

Cool…Our bottle was pretty clean, no funk, and it certainly was memorable. Cheers, Andrew.

Great to hear, Dennis. The '70 remains one of my most memorable great wines I’ve ever had. Have enjoyed reading all of your TN’s lately. You’ve been drinking well!

Thanks, Rick.
Spent a week with family, my brother and I popped a bunch of our good stuff.
Back to reality now…
Cheers. [cheers.gif]
