1969 Remoissenet Volnay 1er Cru, Clos des Chenes

One of the Remoissenet cellar collection, i.e. bottled and stored on site until mid-2010’s. Unclear if it got a top up or simply stayed very, very cold & very, very still. I know there are various archived notes on the older vintages from the Remoissenet cellar collection. This particular bottle was a delight.
Supremely lush, luxurious texture. Blind, you’d be hard-pressed to guess anything older than early 90s. Gentle smoked meats. Hints of some spices. Maybe some dusty cardamom. We had the happy accident of serving this while finishing up some savory grilled Hamachi Collar. What a treat.
I actually had a '66 Remoissenet Volnay two years ago that was nowhere near as good as this one. I have no idea if that is a true representation of the vintage, or a true skill check in what potential maintenance might have occurred. The character of that wine was much more strange.
I’m assuming this was simply a higher tier version of the special collection, but perhaps simply a special bottle. Tremendous verve. All that Rizz
