TN: 1959 Hospices de Beaune Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Avaux Emile Chandesais

  • 1959 Hospices de Beaune Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Avaux Emile Chandesais - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (3/1/2025)
This bottle was mid-shoulder at best. Cork soaked through and crumbly. Wine, absolutely magnificent. An enticing nose of strawberry, black earth, Autumnal leaves and smoked meats. The palate is still fresh, possessing discernible fruit. It is sweet and vinous at its core and has plenty of savoury nuance. It is silky, with fine minerally acidity. Not particularly deep or long, but thoroughly engaging the whole bottle through.
