TN: 17 Lamy-Caillat Les Cailleret & 23 Morgen Long X Omni

Lamy Caillat had its signature white chocolate and smoked sesame nose. It’s painfully mineral - packed to the brim with stones and dry extract; marvelously rich and dense with a beautiful texture.

The X Omni was stunning - even at this young stage. Noble reduction with Coche popcorn, wheat toast, yuzu, smoke, petrol and rain water - just aromatic fireworks on the nose. Rich, dense and oily on the palate. Charred lemons, ginger, bone marrow, and oyster brine on a long savory finish that drives on and on and on. Seth seems to up his game every vintage - wow level wine.

Love the wines. They really do belong in the same conversation as high end white burg.

Yeah there are a lot of similar wine making techniques at the press. Seth uses a lot more new oak, and a shorter elevage, but both producers crush before pressing and do long hard press cycles which give the wines a lot of density.
