TN: 09' Faurie St. Joseph VV

09’ Faurie St. Joseph VV- I was a bit worried as the cork was sunken, but it looks more an over site of hand filling than storage. The color was spot on, almost neon at the rim with a spectrum of purple hues and young. The nose on this is fantastic, it has a cool mint streak with a high tone violet note that oozes class. Meat, subtle aromas of blueberries, cassis and white pepper that are very primary.
It’s mouth filling with tough fruit, tannic, moderate + acid and somewhat closed and angular. This needs at least 10 more years and don’t find it fat nor flabby in the least.

I was excited to try this as this was my first purchase from Voix de la Terre and it won’t be my last. I think after discount these were $28 per with free shipping/case, no brainer.
I have no relationship with VDLT, but they have a good selection of Northern Rhone wines and multiple vintages from each producer.

Jason,
That’s a great deal. These and Gonon are my go-to St. Josephs. I love the gamey bacon and fruit notes in the Gonon, and the floral qualities of the Faury.

Oops; were you talking about the Philippe Faury, or the Bernard Faurie? Both make a VV.

I’m talking about B. Faurie, Philippe has been imported by Kermit for a long time and available in Seattle.
Bernard hasn’t been available on the West coast for a while, but is now imported by Kermit so the 11’ VV should be in the market soon.
Also the pricing from LVDT is a lot cheaper than you can get from Kermit imported bottles.

Thank you for the good note, Jason. I have no doubt that this is a really good bottle. Faurie’s Hermitage cuvees are absolute masterpieces.

Glad this is showing well. I had a bottle last September that was so closed and formidably tannic that it was impossible to enjoy.
