What an amazing wine. Maybe my wine of the year so far. Intoxicating nose of peach, chai tea, pear, apple, plum, orange blossom and mineral. This jumps up your nostrils. The palate is dense and rich with tons of the fruits on the nose showing up on the palate. Ethereal light texture but with brilliant acidity. Long epic finish of exuberant and deep fruit. Maybe a slight hint of botrytis rounds out this wine. Staggering. ![]()
Oh I would be so excited to get to taste this sometime. I don’t see much Schönleber around anyway, not to mention Eiswein. Sounds like it was staggeringly good. I liked the '07 Frühlingsplätzchen Spätlese and I’ve got great faith in its future, but it didn’t thrill me like this one seems to have thrilled you. Thanks for the note and enthusiasm.
Schonleber is such a subtle producer…kind of like the Fourrier of the Nahe actually. The '07’s are showing too sweet now and are in the process of shutting down. It will thrill you soon.
Yes indeed. I just checked my note, which was from a bottle of the '07 Spätlese drunk about a year ago, and I noted its quiet harmony. Should be gorgeous when it opens back up. Glad I have a few more bottles to check in on from time to time.
