Live tasting with Carrie and Randy: back of the bottle says cropped at under 2 tons per acre. spicy rich flavors of this dark, delicious PN.
Nose: Stand by. Neither one of us can detect anything. Going to take our allergy pills.
Okay: Carrie is starting to get cherries and raspberry on the nose as the wine is starting to open up. To me it smells like a fresh piece of bubblegum.
Wine: Garnet in color with medium body and good legs.
Palate: Carrie - Bright fruit, cherry and raspberry. Me - hints of cherry, almost black cherry & coffee.
After 10 min: Carrie went to check on a couple in the cigar lounge. Now all she gets is cigar. I’m getting more black cherry on both the nose and palate. (Allergy pill kicking in)
Finish: Carrie can’t taste or smell anything after going into the cigar lounge. Wait, she’s still getting the bright cherry and raspberry up front, but can’t describe the finish. To me the finish is a little short, with slowly fading black cherry and still a little coffee. I would describe the wine as on the feminine side of a pinot based on the lighter flavors and shorter finish, though black cherry to me is more prevelant in PN that are bold and viscous.
7:58 PM, (6:58 listed here) Carrie - Done. The cigar smoke took her out of the picture. Now all we have are the unreliable rantings from me. Sorry, we really wanted to do good tasting notes. Wait, Carrie is now getting Black cherry on the nose. Never mind, she can’t remember what we had for lunch.
Here it is: A good representation of the entry level Oregon Pinots with cherry to black cherry fruits. Solid wine that would be very good with heavy or spicy cheeses, as it has enough acidity and alcohol to cleanse the palate. We both agree the wine needed an hour open before drinking as we are both getting more complex flavors from the wine. Not stellar (Randy), but an enjoyable wine that would be complimentary and complimented with food. (Carrie threatened me not to mention she is now getting coffee bean)
