2006 Kaseler Nies’chen Spatlese Bischofliches Priesterseminar
Popped & poured over 4 hours.
Medium pale yellow tinged with green.
Aroma > Big. Aromatic. Sappy, sweaty lime, intense lime-oil, key-lime, lemon-lime, ripe yellow-peach & cream, black-currant, red & morello-cherry.
Kiwi & grapefruit/pink-grapefruit, blood-orange, with building pungency.
Steely/slatey/mineral, grape-blossom, honeysuckle, tart-apricot & nectarine, with lemon/lime-oil, lime-flesh & lime-zest.
Amazing youth & freshness, like a steep mountain stream over slate, in a lime grove(!?!)
THIS is WOW territory indeed.
Palate > Lime-flesh, key-lime, tart-apricot, white & yellow-peach, quince, & granny-smith.
Very sappy, pungent.
Fairly big-bodied. 9% ABV on label. Is it higher?
Mid-palate becomes pink-grapefruit, dry blood-orange, bitter lime-flesh, morello-cherry, lime-oil/lemon-zest, & cherry-stone.
Medium+ intensity. Excellent acidity. Seemingly medium+ sweetness, but acidity & firm finish let it drink slightly drier.
Finishes with great pungent, persistent lime-flesh, zest, & bitter-lime.
Very long, extended, persistent aftertaste echoes bitter lime-zest, red-raspberry, & lime-flesh twang.
Time very much in hand, & still not showing everything it has.
Wow is this beautiful Ruwer Riesling. A pure, wildly fresh, sappy, pungent, creamy, Lime-Oil BOMB!
This is what Ruwer Riesling is all about.
