Absolutely agree on this wine - it’s in a fantastic state right now, that’s for sure. I was quite disapopinted with previous bottles, but in the last 3-6 months, they really shone.

How much life is left in these? I have 2 and was planning on giving them a few more years.

tons. i have 3 left and will enjoy one each fall until gone.

It’s been a few years since my first off-line taste, but we share a similar category. Different strokes as they say.

I didn’t take detailed notes on this, but it was not disappointing, at least for what I expected. This is not really my style of Pinot anymore, but it is in a really fantastic space for the style it is. I recall thinking when I first tried it that there was no way the oak would integrate with the fruit, but it has, and I imagine if I waited 2 more years, it would even more so. Unfortunately, I have no more bottles of the '05 Southing, so I’ll have to just imagine it…

I didn’t really have low expectations, I had pretty solid ones, but I also know this wine is not really my style. Still, it’s in a great spot for what the wine IS, and Heidi is a big fan of SeaSmoke (it’s likely her favorite wine) and so her expectations were high, and met. It is a great wine, to be sure, just not what I like.

What is your style of Pinot these days Todd?

Impressive and I’ll have to take your word for it. It was one of the oakiest “fine” Pinots I’ve ever experienced.

I go more for the elegant style of Pinot, more ‘classic’, I guess - florals, low abv, something like a Dehlinger.

I might be! I’ve not had many burgs, but Berserkerfest 1.5 is sure to change that! I’m going to enjoy trying them, but hope to God I don’t get into them. I thought my newfound lust for Barolo was expensive… [pwn.gif]

This is the perfect scenario, as I’m expecting most of them to be good, since Burg is what the wrong-coasters seem to do best, and most. I’m sitting at a Burg table, even though I might not be able to smell them very well since Abood is at the table.
