TN 05 Lillian & 05 Elderton Command

Last night, my wife and I had a workmate of mine over for a few bottles. The last time I provided the juice so this was his night.

Lillian 2005 Syrah. My second time with this wine and once again it delivered. Decanted for just about 2 hours. As I poured it into the decanter I was taken by a massive nose of blueberries and flowers. Once in the glass I noticed some heat on the nose, I did not recall this the last time I had this wine. In the mouth it was lovely and had great length with no notice of any heat whatsoever. As the night went on the floral aspect took over. Great stuff!

2005 Elderton Command Single Vineyard. “It’s like licking a tree” said my friend and I could not agree more. MASSIVE nose of wood and not much else. However it did taste much better than the nose gave. Tasty olives with a bit of fruit and earth there. I would not pay the tariff for this wine but maybe the oak will become a bit more tame with time?

All and all a great night with one great and one nice wine. [cheers.gif]

Love the Lillian and I really love older Command Vineyrard Eldertons.

Uh…what he said

Love the Lillian and never had Command Vineyard Eldertons. Care to elaborate as to why they are good?

Power with balance. Good fruit concentration, enough oak to be tasty without being overly done.

Haven’t had any of the “Millerized” ones though, so I can’t comment on any love for them.

[imwithstupid.gif] agreed ! what they said
