2005 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses - France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru (5/8/2016)
No premox, this had a great showing last night. Not a wine of specific fruit descriptors, this won the day over with a rich, mineral attack that avoided being exotic (like a few 06’s I’ve had) but pressed on with a caressing mid palate presence. The momentum continues the more sips one takes, sea breeze and subtle spearmint traits appear, and the clear pedigree of the Preuses is obvious on the very long finish. My best guess is this at peak, but should hold at least 5 years, maybe 10 if the bottle is sound. (94 pts.)

Nice note, Dale. I’ve had a roughly 75% premox rate with '05 Fevre–glad yours was not affected!
Lucky man, Dale. My premox rate has been about like Andy’s. I still have some 02’s and 04’s that I guess I need to try soon. When sound, the wines are very nice, but the premox rate is so high it’s hard to take them anywhere or serve them to anyone without solid back up.
Maybe we should get some Seattleites together and each bring a couple of Fevres. Kind of a Russian roulette tasting. I’ll dress like Christopher Walken in “Deer Huner.”
Cheers,
Hal
Ha–interesting. How many back up Fevre bottles would we need?
John and Andy, OUCH! I hear ya, though I have through good luck with my 05’s (preuses and the CdB), had a bad run with the 04 Les Clos, dumping my last bottles two down the drain. I’ve had respectable run post 08, though mostly I’m drinking PC’s vs GC’s and drinking them much younger, which is fine, they are often very good drinks.
