TN: 03 Martinelli Chard "Zio Tony" RRV & 07 Navarro Chard

Last night to accompany the Meyer lemon chicken breast. Recipe: marinate chicken in fridge with meyer lemon juice and chopped garlic for 1 hour. REmove, dredge through flour (seasoned with salt & Pepper), quick brown in a pan with a little olive oil then deglaze pan with some Chardonnay, pour over the chicken in a baking dish. Place 2 slices of lemon on each breast, a little lemon zest and crumble a little brown sugar. Bake at 375 for about 27 minutes.

Opened this to use as the deglazing wine and use in the rice dish and to have a glass while cooking. It’s rich bordering on a little too sweet for me or what I like in a Chard. Plenty of oak spice, honey and pear. It’s 15.2% alcohol but is not hot at all. This wine is pretty tasty but overall a little too much sweetness left me putting the bottle back in the fridge. Even my Chardonnay loving fiancee was not too impressed.

We had tasted this last weekend during a stop at Navarro so Traci could pick up her Navarro club shipment. This is terrific with zingy acidity, meyer lemons, a little bit of honey…imminently drinkable and a perfect match with the chicken dish. 13.2% alcohol and only $17…a steal at that price!
