Really just one tasting note, as the 99 Leroy was oxidized… perhaps marginally drinkable when first opened but we were looking for something decent with some halibut and veggies, so I opened this:
-
2002 Domaine Patrick Javillier Meursault Les Clous - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault (8/9/2009)
This took a couple of hours to unwind. Effusive nose of truffles, honey, flowers, stones and rich fruit. Medium bodied, concentrated, good acidity, very good length. This has great typicity, a classic combo of weight and cut, is quite aromatic and quite long. Sure, it could be a bit more pure or from a better vineyard, but for what it is, there is nothing to fault. Also, I am happy to note that this is my 4th bottle of 02 Javillier with no premox problems as of yet (knock on wood).
