Score another one for M. Rasteau (elder) of the Caveau de Chassagne-Montrachet. This is bright and fresh, with sweet cherry fruit that’s firmly short of candied. Good acid backbone with all sorts of tertiary deliciousness peeking out around the corners. A fine match with chanterelles in cream sauce over pasta. Pasta, I might add, that looks more like ears than oriechette do.
Back in the day, I think I paid about $11 for this in Chassagne and checked it on my return flight. Those were the days.
