TN: 00' Patrick Lesec Charmes Chambertin

00’ Patrick Lesec Charmes Chambertin- I’ve had great luck with this wine, last time I had it it was terrific, bright, racey, a little forward but well worth the price I paid. This is the third bottle from the lot I purchased and they have all been great.
This bottle opened with a lot of bottle funk, some weird chemical notes, hard scents, iron, the local feed store aromas. The palate is much better and giving with raspberry fruit, slate, game.
After about 2 hours, this has changed. The nose is much more forward, reminds me of 99 Oregon Pinots, raspberry, wild Strawberries with a chalk like cut, rounded with a little cheesy-ness that pulls it all together. Blueberries, Strawberries, slate, iron, come together on the palate with a long acid streak with a nice mineral lift.

While this is not the greatest of Grand Cru’s as well as Negociant wine, it’s still pretty damn good and well worth the $35 I paid for it.

Is Lesec still doing his own label? I had some very good bottles, and some just okay ones from this era. Sounds like a nice mature drink at the price.
