I am not a big basketball fan, and it’s not like the Jets winning the Super Bowl, but I am a New Yorker, born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, with a current home in Westchester. I intend to open some very good wine, by my taste, at a celebratory party. I could not find a room along the parade route, so I have reserved 1:00 pm table (best guess by the policemen I spoke to when the parade will be finished) a spot at Bobby Van’s, 131 E 54th St, NYC. (NOT the one under the Helmsley building) because I know the manager and I have the flexibility to increase the number of people. I have already brought in three 750s so I do not have to schlepp them to the parade. 2016 MacDonald, 2016 Saxum G2 and an SQN White. Depending on logistics, I may bring a 2006 Hospices Dr. Peste Corton GC for those who like that stuff. DRC from other attendees is always appreciated.
I have sent an email to Josh Hart’s agent inviting him to come to drink MacDonald since he is a Bordeaux guy, but now understand that he is on their mailing list and he had a bottle of DRC to celebrate yesterday, so I am not optimistic.
This is an open invitation for anyone who want to come and celebrate. It usually costs us about $150 PP when we have wine dinner is there, but I don’t know how much people will want to eat for lunch. They don’t charge me corkage but we leave a big tip. I expect to be there for more than just a few minutes, so if you want to drop by later, your can join us whenever.
If you want to join us, just post below and bring something everyone wants to drink, or, bring some antique over the hill Bordeaux or other antique that Jay Miller will like. However, I think I have a bit of the 1940 Massandra left over from Friday’s Wine Collector bash, and that should keep him happy.Anyone else who knows someone who should attend, post here also.
