Three with dinner: McPrice Myers, WS RRV, Myriad Syrah

Some French colleagues were in town for work, so I swung by my wine locker on the way to dinner. They seemed truly amazed at the quality of these California wines. So much so, that one asked me how one could go about getting some shipped back to France.

  • 2006 Myriad Cellars Syrah Las Madres Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, Carneros (7/10/2009)
Singing right out of the bottle. Mocha scent leaps from the glass, along with cherries and plums. Mexican chocolate, along with lavender on the palate. Just plain delicious. (93 pts.)
  • 2007 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Russian River Valley - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (7/10/2009)
Very nice. Feminine and luscious, with tingly acidity. Great with some rich, creamy pasta with prosciutto. (91 pts.)
  • 2008 McPrice Myers Terre Blanche - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley (7/10/2009)
Nice balance of sappy floral and crisp minerality. Round and mouth-coating. (90 pts.)
