Definitely get the producer and vintage dictating…
I’ve had a fair number of wines starting from about the 2011 vintage. Lots of good stuff but nothing that ever blew my mind. A lot of the examples of wines with 10-20 years of age, albeit in a small sample size, weren’t necessarily more interesting…and I assume many were poorly stored or transported given their aromatics.
What changed my mind was this not very special premier Cru Pommard from Verdereau 2006. So also not a heralded year in any way. This was really interesting and still had plenty of fruit.
