thoughts on some burgs?

I usually don’t buy much $80+ burgs, just from a cost level and my budget… but I saw some 2002 angerville ducster and 2002 montille taillepieds available. I like both Montille and Angerville wines…but I’ve never tried a Clos des Ducs before.

Any thoughts on these wines? How shut down would these be still?

They should both be excellent wines. Love both producers and vineyards, but I haven’t had the '02 versions. These are both producers and vineyards that make long-lived wines, although I’ve had some lovely '02s in the past year or two, so I wouldn’t assume necessarily that they’re shut down hard.

If there are any extras, please let us know!

Had a bottle of the '02 d’Angerville Clos des Ducs recently and it was good but I thought it was showing a little oddly - not shut down exactly, in fact much sweeter/rounder/fruit-driven than I expected for its adolescence. I am betting another decade in the cellar would really help.

Would strongly recommend buying a 2007 Angerville, pocketing the difference and getting just as much pleasure for immediate drinking. 2002 Angervilles are good but they’re sort of fleshy right now.

EDIT: Agree with Michael L.'s view above.

Cary, I’d be happy to share the cost of one of the D’angervilles at a future offline. Would love to try it.

+1, but you have to show up [snort.gif]

Nah, only the bottle has to show up

If it tastes like cherry coke, it’s just the house style. nothing fishy.

Excellent advice here!

Thanks I did open one 07 Angerville fremiets a year+ back that was closed a bit when the cork was pulled, but opened up nicely as dinner proceeded.

I’ll look in to the 07 ducster.
thanks

The 2007 D’Angerville “Taillepieds” is a superior wine.
