This is why...

…I love 99 red Burgs.

On release I tried the 99 Ramonet Bourgogne Rouge, liked it very much and bought a case. Over the years it has provided much pleasure and never really shut down. Cracked my last bottle from the case last night and it was superb. Deeply pitched, classy with an amalgam of red and black fruits. A hint of earth and coffee development is sneaking into the aroma and flavour profile and there’s a light thread of liquorice. It is amply fruited with plenty of structure and has the perfume and colour of the vintage. The texture is silky and length of flavour admirable. It drinks like a very good Village wine and I reckon will continue to improve.

Cheers!

A very underrated producer of reds!

Had a 2010 ‘Clos St-Jean’ Rouge on Monday that was terrific Chuck and they age for decades. I still recall a 1952 version of this wine, terrible year but it held its head high in a classy field of DRC’s.

Still probably my favourite vintage of all time in reds…

Just keep thinking how good that '99 RC was, probably the best wine I have ever had.

With you there, Chuck. I fondly recall loading up on the '91 1er crus that were being blown out by one of my then-local establishments for under a Hamilton.

Never had the Bourgogne Rouge, though. I do have some of the 99 1ers, though. Don’t recall which ones, though. We need to do another Seattle offline, and maybe I’ll dig one up.

It is the best and most complete wine I have ever had Paul.

I have drunk during this summer 1999 Cros Parantoux Méo Camuzet. It was phenomenal.
1999 will be drinkable for one century, as 1899 has been.

I’m in with the love of the '99 vintage and hope to taste the RC one day soon.

I will gladly bring the Durand.

+1. Had a bottle of 2010 Bourgogne a few weeks ago that was absolutely delicious.
