The Out of Towners join the "natives" in NYC

Ok, so I’m as native as the next cab driver here…nonetheless I tried to give Poppy & Aaron a little taste of Manhattan (nice little Italian trattoria in the heart of Greenwhich Village). We were joined by the lovely and charming Tom & Kathy Futey (that’s all Kathy there…don’t get any ideas Tom), Victor Hong, Diane Kessler, Greg Kramer, Suzanne Camhi and the infamous Leo “Croat Cuddler” Frokic. Thanks to all for making it a very lovely evening. I was away the rest of the weekend without internet access and thus was not able to post TNs. As soon as I find my feeble notes tonight I will post them. In the meantime, I was able to pen in the note for the 1997 Terrabianco Campaccio Riserva into my CT on Friday night:

  • 1997 Terrabianca Campaccio Selezione Riserva Toscana IGT - Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT (5/30/2009)
Dark & rich. This full-bodied heavyweight gave off notes of sweet raspberries, cinnamon and dark chocolate. In the mouth it has heft, ripeness and balance with the fruit edging out over the acidity by a hair. Long finish with some sweet oak and soft tannins. Plenty of life left. (92 pts.)

cuddles all around

Philip,

Congrats for your engagment, she’s a great girl!

Had a blast with out of towners and a regular crowed. Can’t wait to see everybody again in Cleveland and LA!

I just found this thread. You’ve gotta be quick in Wine Talk these days, otherwise it goes to the next page before you know it!

Thanks so much to everyone for coming out and a special thanks to Jorge for making all the arrangements. Grano Trattoria in the Village was great!

I didn’t take notes, but remember the Terrabianco Campaccio was quite yummy. I was also quite impressed with the 2004 Louis Jadot Corton Charlemagne. It is firing on all cylinders right now, as are many '04 white Burgs.
