It starts with the 2009 vintage and it’s certainly dumbed down isn’t it. I’m not sure I really like it although it’s only a label. I wonder why the Perrins changed the design?
Hmm… I like it. It is a cleaner design.
In a word: YUCK. if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.
+1
Recently I had a BIG double-take when I ran across one of these at a retailer. It did grow on me, but we all found ourselves comparing the newer bottles to older ones and were somewhat undecided.
It’s not all that different:
It is very striking when you see it on a bottle in person.
The differences are negligible; so much so that I actually don’t have an opinion on the new label.
So, are you telling me that if the new label was the old label, and the old label was the new label, that you’d be calling the old label “YUCK” and you’d be singing the praises of the new label?
Hopefully everyone will stop buying it now.
I think the new label is great. Very classy. I wonder what the HJP label will look like.
I can deal with the label, but the capsule is worse…
Label, shmabel – I wish they hadn 't changed to the fatter bottle back in '95 or whenever that was.
Looks like an attempt at a throwback design?
This is the 1978:
Interesting that it looks very different, but looking at the details it’s difficult to pick up on exactly what the differences are. I haven’t seen this in person yet, but I have some bottles to pick up at JJB which just arrived this week.
Here’s another view from a photo found in a web search showing the foil as well…
The foil color and design look the same as it has been.
Although not a huge change from the past, I think that new label just looks cheaper IMO.
Could be worse, could be the new la chapelle label!
On the ones out for distribution here, the capsules seemed plastic, rather than foil and were much more red.
Not bad compared to the new Rauzan-Segla label!
