2011 Clos Rougeard (Foucault) Saumur-Champigny Les Poyeux
Wonderful expressive nose. On the palate silky textured, with excellent balance of fine, ripe tannins, acid freshness and blackcurrant fruit, ending with intensity and finesse. A Les Amoureuses-like experience!!

Had one of these last week, similar experience. I actually thought it seemed younger and edgier that one I had a couple of years ago. Time will do this wine good, I think.
Hmmm maybe I’ll take down my offer to sell on commerce corner!! Ha
IMHO, it’s a very good but not necessarily great Rougeard, but very solid for the vintage, definitely best of class for the vintage. Had it last year with a couple Berserkers:
I’ll sit on the 2011 Les P and the Bourg for a handful more years. They should be striking.
Fu, sell it, you won’t like it like you do those Rhones! Or trade me, as my yak palate loves this stuff.
What is a yak palate?
People that like green, thin, weedy wines.
The '11 Poyeaux is a big step up over the Clos, but I struggle to believe this will ever rank as a great vintage for Clos Rougeard. I’m not even sure that they made the red wines of the vintage in the Loire that year. But hey, it’s a very nice vintage for the Brézé.
Yak palate = Burg drinker
Curious who you think did. I must admit that I am also very partial to the 2011 Franc de Pieds by Baudry and Plouzeau.
I had a delicious ‘11 Le Bourg last month while on holiday in Sydney, wonderful wine, nearly as good the ‘08 version.
