The Good, The Really Good and The Ugly

  • 2007 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Charmes-Chambertin - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru (1/4/2014)
There is some red fruit and spice but far too much equine action. It is tarry with some meaty game and a finish that is a little clipped. You get some 07 flytox thrown in for good measure. Quite disspointing.
  • 2010 Domaine Ramonet Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet (1/4/2014)
Fabulous bottle of village Puligny. Rich and dense with white peach, flowers and minerals. Great texture and power without heaviness. A joy to drink now but plenty in reserve.
  • 2007 Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru (1/3/2014)
A pleasant whiff of fennel to the aroma along with pure white peach, white flowers and minerals. It is dense and sappy in the mouth with concentrated orchard fruits supported by spicy wood. There’s a big hit of minerals to the finish and it has great cut and length.

Well I guess you’re not Anthony Hanson.

Indeed I am not.

I had the 2007 Rousseau Clos de la Roche and Mazis in 2013. Both nice and forward and drinking quite nice without the equine stuff to detract.
