The French Riviera June/July

My wife and I along with our 20 y/o son and his buddy will be spending about 10 days around the Nice area. Looking for a place to stay really close to good beach areas…please advise as well as reco’s to activities, restaurants, night life…etc. thanks, Tom

The 20 year olds would really enjoy the Cap d’Antibes, especially Juan-les-Pins, which is like super international South Beach on steroids in June/July - lots of nubile Eurobabes. I spent weeks at the Garden Beach Hotel in J-L-P, and if it interests you, a casino is 2 doors down. Antibes, the next town, is very Anglo and has lots of nice restaurants and a great Picasso museum. Plus you’re close to places like Vence, Cannes, the Esterel, and the Cotes de Provence region in the inland Var. For adventure, the Verdon Canyon is like a micro’ed Grand Canyon only 90 minutes away but go on a weekday to avoid a traffic jam. Nice is about a 30 minute drive and Italy is only an hour away too.

WARNING/UPDATE - BTW, the Garden Beach Hotel I went to in 2006 was a Meridien/Starwood, I don’t think it is now, and Trip Advisor just named it one of the 10 dirtiest hotels in France. It seems like standards have slipped recently. Many other nice hotels around though.
