Sometimes I wonder where all my money went.
Binnys held my 2010 Gouges Porrets for ransom. I finally had to go break them out this afternoon. The vortex continues.
What Burgundy is on target in your vortex?

I see '12 Dujacs starting to hit the market…
hopefully at better prices than I see.
I’ve been aggressively backfilling '07 and '08. Great relative value play there.

I was referring to Dujac.
Saving for the slaughter that will be Liger-Belair if I am even offered.
I’ve sworn to all that is holy – and unholy – that I’m done buying 2010-2012s. Instead going to focus my fall efforts on backfilling 1995-2002s.
Had a 2000 Michel Magnien CSD that was surprisingly good this week. Smooth, classy, red fruit, flavor everywhere, yummy length, very enjoyable.
We’ll see. Liger-Belair you say? The prices will probably help me resist.
I offered liger belair (Comte, that is) at the same price as last year but it was only the nuits cras.

Given my age I swore that 2010 was my last Burgundy vintage for buying. I originally said 2008 but Maureen forced me to buy 2010s. Really.
So far I’ve bought a grand total of 1 2011 (already consumed) and no 2012s. You younguns can go wild.
I was just offered my annual allocation from my primary supplier…been buying the last 6-7 vintages from them…my allocations cut 25-50% versus 2010 and 2011 I’d estimate
really varies by producer but, in general, I’m seeing 5-15% increases over 2011…selected rare wines and grand crus up as much as 25%…the 2011 prices were flat to down slightly versus 2010…I saw the biggest increase from 2008 to 2009
I’m particularly bummed because I had annual access to some special wines that I no longer buy because I just can’t justify the current price
holy moly…huge increases for Mugnier 12s from my normal source…bye bye Freddy!
CM villages +20%
NSG Marechale +35%
CM Fuees +22%
BM +25%
CM Amoureuses +27%

Did she put a gun to your head? Make you drink young Gouges? Discuss tax law for hours on end? How exactly did she force you to do this.
But, she is right. 2010 is a great vintage.

Like I said - forced.
Maureen was right. 2010 is epic.

While I’m not the biggest Magnien fan, the CSD was the pick of the litter in 2000.

She actually is correct. Great vintage.
I’m worried that in a few years if prices continue to rise and yields continue to fall we may all be backfilling 2010-2012.
That may present problems since I can’t afford what I want now.

I can be very persuasive.
