Fornerol Rue des Foins '23 available on Thatcher’s
If it was, not anymore. ![]()
I haven’t typed that fast in a while, lol.
It was a pretty good price. If I didn’t have lots of it would’ve bought some.
Yeah, of course I just checked my email and saw that it was listed there. Went fast then.
Alas, it is a wine that continues to elude me.
What’s a fair price for the quality of the wine today?
@MChang is certainly more qualified to give a fair assessment, but the best offer I’ve seen prior to this was a bit north of $200 (passed on them). I imagine most of the bottles near ex-domaine prices are privately allocated and difficult to secure.
Indeed they are and you have to buy a case of the Village for each case of Foins.
It seems like if you can find them near release price (Leon and son will sell a few bottles at release, around $70) they will be gone instantly. I tried to buy some after their email offer and it was gone less than a minute after the email hit. I think anything less than 150 is going to sell out almost instantly also. I doubt a ton of this stuff makes its way to auction. I think when I saw it on EP it was something like L49/ea, which is probably more than the Leon and son price.
£36 was EP price.
Edit for some clarity here ![]()
Leon and Son always seems like a great retailer to look for, they seem to price gems very fair.
I was joking that they rightfully cut me off/down for too much cherry picking when things became extremely popular. (Bouchard/Gonon ect)
I was meaning the comment to probably support them long term over a range rather of items than cherry picking their great pricing on allocated stuff.
They seem like a great retailer I’d like to live close to.
Idk what you mean by that?
Yeah sorry, i didn’t understand either…edited to hopefully express a little better.
I cherry pick at every retailer I buy from, doesn’t seem it’s been an issue so far.
Robert has been cherry picking Marcassin…
DeLille Cellars kicking down some pretty sizable discounts on about a half dozen or so bottlings in recognition of Washington Wine Month. Of particular note, the ‘22 Doyenne @ $20 a pop.
Fantastic staff at Leon & Sons. The actual retail store is really tiny.
K&L had 2 bottles of 2022 Coche Dury Les Caillerets for I think $1332.xx at 1am PST. Bottles were no longer listed by the time I woke up this morning.
Except I didn’t pass up on it - bought 3 bottles a couple of weeks ago!
For Houston-area folks, the Pearland Twin Liquors sale has some attractive stuff. 2009 (I think) Bosconia Reserva for $34.39, 2009 (site says 2006, but I think it’s actually the 2009) Tondonia Reserva for $44.50, 2016 (so the website claims) Heitz Napa Cab for $46.99, 2020 (I think) Produttori del Barbaresco for $30, and 2019 Leoville Barton for $73.49, among other things.
