I’ve been looking at this for a while, and it seems like a pretty good deal. It says if the average weight of 12 bottles is <2.8lbs, then the whole suitcase will be within the 50lb limit, so I guess it’ll be fine unless all your wines are packed in super heavy “premium” bottles. The other thing that concerns me is the shape of the bottles. The pictures look like these are all somewhat standard sized bottles, but what if I have a fat Burg or a tall Riesling? Even though the luggage is foam, I’m not sure how well those bottles would fit.
Idk about the fly with wine version but the vinguard valise accommodates all bottle types fine; you can manipulate the foam.
We purchased two. They’re sturdy and the inserts look like they’ll readily take burgundy bottles. The weight issue is on our minds for an upcoming trip. My suspicion is that 12 bottles might take them over the limit, depending on the bottles, but 10-11 should be fine. My understanding is that this is VinGarde Valise with different inserts.
I would not recommend putting 12 bottles in either the vinguardvalise or this suitcase. The best use case is to use it for 6 bottles, and use the other half for clothing. You run the risk of breakage by using the whole suitcase for wine, in addition to potential weight issues. if you want to ship 12 bottles, it’s best to use a wine check.
Do they not have the middle styrofoam insert anymore?
We have two to accommodate this possibility. If we need to, we have shipping options, so this will be a bit of an experiment. If I have a moment, I’ll put 12 bottles in one, weigh it, and respond here.
The main concern isn’t weight when you put 12 bottles in it, but breakage.
20% off still red wines from Astor. Not as good a deal as some previous sales of this type, but a few interesting deals.

My VGV foam is starting to get worn and the bottles didn’t fully stay in their slot on my last flight. Might be because they are riesling bottles and I had to take the top foam part out to accommodate their lengths.
9 or 10 Champagne bottles max. Delta Airlines once saddled me with $100 fee for a wine carrier that was 2# over maximum weight.
Theyve been trading pretty close at auction too.
One bottle of grand siecle 25 at Envoyer for 169
Agree on this as well. With the bare minimum packing the max # of bottles I can pack is 9 bottles to reach that 50 lbs… unless you pack Bordeaux shaped bottles only…
At least on Delta, the weight limit for first is 70 lb.
My experience a couple of years ago was 50 lbs, and their website still lists 50 lbs for the first bag. Maybe 70 for premium status or international?
Same with American when you’re Exec Platinum
Weight restrictions at no extra charge vary by product. Delta Main, Delta Comfort and Delta Premium Select passengers should follow the standard 50 lb. limit per piece. Delta One and Delta First passengers should follow the 70 lb. limit per piece.
3 bags if flying up front too.
Has to be Exec, not just Platinum?
