I expect there’s still a lot of hell to pay for sellers of 2021 Bordeaux. There will be lots of opportunities to buy so my recommendation if you’re interested would be to use a sale like this to buy single bottles of wines you think you might like, then taste them before you buy more. There are some really nice wines but it’s a significant step down in depth and ripeness from the surrounding vintages, more like 2017. Classic Bdx lovers may find they really like some of them, but I wouldn’t make assumptions.
FWIW I’ve drunk single bottles of PLL, La Conseillante, Figeac, Carmes and Laroque. I liked them all, but I think individual preferences will vary a lot. I wouldn’t say these prices are great bargains - it’s more about the vintage finding its level after being way overpriced initially.
Yep, agreed. Costco has had them on a fire sale for months now and they’re still dying in the bins here in AZ. I bought/ popped a Montrose and Cos, and definitely see why they’re not selling. Even at those prices i have zero interest in having 21 Bordeaux in my Cellar.
Envoyer has a pretty good deal on a few bottles of 2019 Prum - esp GH/WS Kabi + Spat that are hard to find. Other vintages also. If you don’t already have cases and cases, you should definitely jump on it.
I’ve been avoiding 2021 Bordeaux and/or there is no reason to buy it. A couple of the MacArthur prices are interesting but most are still too high for me. Grand Puy Lacoste at $50 is intriguing.
In honor of Berserkerday, I was able to convince The Wine Fix to offer a 20% discount for one week. You can click on my affiliate link here to save 20% until Feburary 4th!!
There are some older Raveneau and Drouhin wines that weren’t badly priced with the discount; I’m just not really a buyer of any non-Rousseau wines though.
Buywinesonline discounted the gros frere 2017 Clos Vougeot to 149.95. There’s a code somewhere for 10% off too. Looks like they have 20 bottles of the 2017 ech left at 189.95.
Grabbed two each of the Gros Echezeaux and Vougeot, as well as the Vosne village. Had no issue getting the delivery scheduled for March. Thanks for the find!
I ended up grabbing some ‘96 Maume Mazis Chambertin, haven’t had anything from them but when they had been operating Mazis seemed to be their top wine based on what I’ve read (and a good value)
