+1 Analemma. They should be sought after.
Thanks. That’s good to know.
I’ve had both the 2021 Little Crow Wines Pinot Noir 1920 Hollow Oak Acres and the 2022 Little Crow Wines Pinot Noir Mermaid Cafe in the last several weeks and they were both really impressive. I’m definitely buying more to cellar. I think this is a producer to watch.
Things have changed. Seeing them on Winebid now for $80, without the vig. Jeez.
Tried the Smockshop Grenache. I love adventure and love grenache. But, could not wrap my mind around that one. Way too wild, way too untamed, way too bizarre. Nate Ready is a fascinating guy, with alot of respect for the land, but perhaps he needs to reign it in just a tad?
The Ahurani (Momtazi) and the Mirabai (Maresh) are/were released at sub $40. I saw one bottle of Mirabai in Winebid for $80, but this is clearly a mistake by their staff. The 2010s and 2013s just sold on WB for under $30.
How are they drinking a 15 years? Still some freshness on the fruit, or mostly tertiary now?
I have not had one. However, I had a bunch of 2007 Scott Pauls where Kelley was the wine maker at around that age and they were definitely still fresh.
Older Kelley Fox (and Scott Paul) was bottled under screw cap, so I believe they age a little slower. A year or so ago I had the 2013 Scott Paul and Arterberry wines in a blind tasting and thought both were still pretty primary.
I really love what Kelley is doing and her Mirabai is a wine I try to purchase every year, but I’m a little concerned with putting real age on her wines. I’ve had some older (05) Scott Paul wines which felt a little diluted, and I believe her wines now are on the more elegent and lighter side. Plus I the price point is a little tough (although her berserker deals are great and I’ve picked up some SVD that way). With that said, her non-screw cap wines are starting to approach 10 years of bottle age, I should grab some from storage and check in. I know Jim also did a vertical tasting and indicated that her older stuff was holding up:
You all may want to think about an order from your favorite Teeny Tiny winery as shipping season is going to begin fairly soon. You all are great.
I placed an order with De La Boue just today. ![]()
Ditto, order confirmed yesterday.
Now is a great time to get some small production wines for the next Holiday Season. Think about how good you’ll feel helping others (there’s a Jack Handey line hiding somewhere).
I think it would be great if you could organize a Teeny Tiny Oregon Wine Dinner at Berns… ![]()
I will delete this thread before going back to that shit hole.
Hope you and yours are well Brian. ![]()
Yes! And we have great deals right now: buy one wine for the twice of two, and the second wine is free!!
But seriously-- here’s my 50% Black Friday offer in Commerce Corner (click link)
In the same vein as “support your local farmer”, now is the time to support your local/small winemaker. If you have gone to a tasting and the owner/winemaker is pouring the wine for you, those are the brands to spend your $$ with.
DM me if you know how to farm, can transport your own spray rig, and are interested in fruit (that you would farm and harvest - that’s the cost) in Ribbon Ridge. Three acres.
Yep, it’s a stop loss.
My wife and I are going to WV in February, and I’m looking for a new Teeny Tiney Winery to taste at. Ideally, I’m looking for something North of McMinnville, because we will be tasting with De La Boue in Dundee that day as well. Any new tiny wineries in that area I should check out? Thanks!
If you’re not already familiar with White Walnut I can recommend them. Enjoyed our visit last September.
