No detailed notes here…just some general impressions.
First off, Adam is a super guy in person that is obviously passionate about wines and winemaking. He brought his new releases from both Siduri and Novy for the Dallas crew to taste through over dinner at Dali. Six Syrahs and seven pinots were poured, plus most folks brought a couple of bottles (whites, pinots and syrahs from CA) each to get us up to around thirty bottles for eleven people.
The Siduri wines showed zero smoke taint and they were all very approachable at this early stage. Very fruit forward, but not massive like KB or Sea Smoke. Out of the bunch, I liked the RRV, Gary’s and Pisoni Eddie’s the best. Not being the hugest fan of pinot, I can honestly say that these for me would be worth seeking out.
The Novy syrahs all rocked it hard as they were all from the much heralded 2007 vintage. All had massive fruit and good tannic structure that suggest a long, long life is ahead for them. They all are very approachable now, but a couple really caught my attention and I will actively be seeking them out: Rosella’s and Page-Nord. Both super concentrated and have an amazing nose that just screams at you.
Of course lots of other wines that were opened were good, and hopefully Joe or Dr. Spikes can add some thoughts on those as well.
Thanks Adam.
Completely agree Bill. These were my two favorites.
I’ve had a number of Rosella’s Pinots - don’t think I’ve tried Adam’s, though. I’m sure it was at Falltacular, but, as with about 50% of the wines there, I didn’t get a chance to sample it
Adam’s just a hell of a guy making fantastic wine.
Thanks for the impressions. I’ve yet to try any of Adam’s wines. Shanken is finally bringing the Spectator road show to DC this spring, and it looks like Siduri is participating. I’m looking forward to finally getting a taste.
Tex, you never listed your F%cked Up factor for Adam’s wines. Geez, what good are you???
Jody,
I am going to be the one pouring Siduri there in DC - so I hope you come by the table - I look forward to meeting you!

Tex, good show hosting Adam. For me and the many vintages of drinking Novy Rosella’s, it’s difficult to find a bad bottle. The Novy Rosella’s remains for me one of the benchmark syrahs I look at for CA–have for some time. Often dark, full of black pepper, citrus and dark fruit. Just a pleasure to drink.
Adam, I drank my last bottle of 2003 Rosella’s last week and it’s hanging right in there. Even with the challenge of that vintage that I think you have cited before, the wine did just fine. Richer styled yes, but I really enjoyed it.
Adam, that’s great – we will definitely stop by. I apologize in advance for my wife. She’s a bit of a lush, and gesticulates wildly when drinking (I keed honey, love you!).
