Tasting Notes from Our Trip to NYC

  • 2014 Dirty and Rowdy Mourvedre FAMILIAR - USA, California (4/4/2016)
First time trying Dirty and Rowdy, very excited!! Very interesting right off the bat, no staining on the cork at all and and such an interesting color out of the bottle. Very light red with brownish hues. Nose was full of floral notes and a little nuttiness. Bright and crisp acidity, so elegant. Slight minerality near the finish, which is long and lingering. Moderate tannins (6/10) that grips starting mid to end palate. Very impressed and so happy we got on their allocation list. Thanks Hardy, Kate, Matt and Amy!!! You guys are doing great things out there! Drink till 2028. (92 pts.)

  • 2015 Idlewild The Bird Red - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (4/6/2016)
Beautiful on day one and two. Bright ruby red with a purple hue. Semi-tart on the nose with red cherries and other red fruits. Very complex palate. Tart red berries, very refreshing, and crisp. Moderate acidity that carries throughout the entire body/palate. Light to medium bodied wine. Slightly drying long finish that is light in weight. Loved the tart berries and acidity that carries throughout this wine. Beautifully complex with the slightly dry finish. Drink till 2021.(90 pts.)

Beautiful tart berries, blue and red ones on the palate. Slight crisp pinch near the finish. Smooth and delicious. Moderate plus tannins and acidity (7.5/10).
