Tasting all 10 Beaujolais crus

As many seem to like this wine, I retested it today, without any other wines. Tried to look away from my notes from a couple days ago but underripe blueberry did stand out in my mind. Today was a bit different for sure though. On the nose, Edamame, popcorn, blueberry, black cherry, barnyard, sanguine. Palate I did get Underripe blueberry still though not nearly in such a pronounced and dominant way, also cranberry, red cherry. Still likely not a favorite but didn’t have the strong negatives like the other day. So yup, definitely stand by “tasting some wines on a day” from first post

Thanks for the inspiration, I’m going to do something similar maybe next month.

I recommend trying to find a bottle of Lantignié as well! I did a tasting of 11 Bojo Crus a few years ago, meaning I had all the 10 Crus plus a bottle of Lantignié (which is a Beaujolais-Villages comune next to Régnié, often considered to be at the Cru rather than Villages level and some producers are actually hoping Lantignié would be elevated to the Cru status some day in the future).

In that tasting I had a bottle of Henry Fessy and that turned out to be among the most disappointing bottles in the tasting.

What a cool flight! Nice work gathering everything and thanks for the pics and notes.

I’ve tasted through a dozen or so bottles of Henry Fessy Cru over the years (admittedly, nothing within the past 5), and found all of them to be nothing more than decent and unremarkable.

Agreed - I had Chenas and Julienas side by side (at a bar in London called Beaujolais, indeed) and they were fine but not worth seeking out.
