When we went last year, we really enjoyed Apogee for sparkling and bought a 6 pack. Also tried Delamere and Sinapius, cute spots although the tastings weren’t anything special. I wrote down House of Arras, The Ridge North Lilydale, Hinton Bay, Utzinger, Bellebonne/Evenfall, and Stoney Rise as other options based on CT reviews, but for the most part didn’t try them. Had one Utzinger that I bought from a local store (22 Black Label) that was okay and still a little young, so-so QPR at ~$40 USD. Seems like a solid area for sparkling overall and would maybe focus on that. Coal River Valley by Hobart is better for Pinot and Chard if you make it down there at some point on your trip (Stargazer and Tolpuddle would be my picks for cellar doors).
Thanks. We have more time around Hobart. Have the in-laws in Launceston and find they are better with a little alcohol:-) Will check out Coal River Valley while in Hobart.

Go to Pressing Matters in Coal River Valley. Very good wines and a swanky new cellar door.
In the Tamar, Joe Holyman is your man. Great bloke and terrific Chardonnay and Pinot.
Agree with Jeremy. And if you want to learn about Cricket, Joe is your man.
Clover Hill also have a great range of very good bubbles and Pipers Brook’s whites are always top shelf.
What about Tolpuddle in the Coal River Valley??

Brinktop is a small family run winery/vineyard. In the south end of the Coal River Valley about 20 minutes from Hobart. They are winning awards for pinot and chard.
