FYI to all… I didn’t post this thread for me. I posted it to keep everyone entertained on a very cold (in NY) day. ![]()
I was smart enough to pick the type of wine, and now with Carries opinion on the Domaine Serene, I may just modify my selection (since I trust her pallet). ![]()

Serge Birbrair: Ed Murray:Barolo would be fine with me - the soy sauce would bring it all together.
You can hammer Nathan for his ignorance/insensitivity for using the pejorative “nip” but who are you tell him what he should like to drink with sushi?
Ed, not me. When tannins from Barolo meet oil from the fish, it creates unique metallic taste in the mouth.
Nothing wrong with having food which tastes like aluminum foil on steroids. If the food tastes like cadmium mixed
with peroxide, this is another story, but this effect can only be achieved by pairing fish or sushi with Barbaresco.Just bring one of these and you’ll be fine →
I generally ignore food/wine pairing threads, recommendations, etc. etc. Personally, I’ll drink what I’m in the mood for with whatever I’m eating. In fact, I rarely drink wine with dinner unless I’m out at a restaurant, I prefer to savor each on their own, (food and wine.) Yeah I know, I’m a neanderthal.
+1 ed. I do each thing separately. I drink before the food comes. I eat … and then I drink after the food is done.

Note to self, don’t order fish, since my friend just e mailed me to tell me he’s thinking about bringing a Barolo. Maybe I should send him a link to this thread. ![]()
