Tajima American Wagyu BOGO Offer - essentially 50% OFF

I sent it already to Aaron

I would have been thrilled with any one of those.
Thanks @Cameron_Hughes for standing behind this. :berserker:

Definitely looks like the supplier pulled a fast one. Those ribeyes look way better than what was actually sent. Did anyone get a hefty amount of cap on theirs?

Here’s what I pulled out to salt overnight. Have to squint to find the cap

My steaks looked nothing like that. I don’t understand how many of use received steaks that look choice at best.

I agree. This was my first and last purchase of Holy Grail. Easy to stick with Flannery and Morgan Ranch.

I agree, sorry Cam as I’m sure this is not the nightmare you were hoping for. Just received 4 steaks that look more like sirloin and they were room temp. No frozen ice or anything to keep them cold during transit. Requesting a refund and then throwing these in the trash.

Feels like his whole brand took an irreparable hit here on this boondoggle.

Red Top Farms f’d Cameron.

I’m just wondering why he still has this offer going and hasn’t pulled it! Or maybe he did??

Can a producer legally put ā€˜Kobe’ on the packaging of American beef?

Email sent to customer service, Cameron.

These are how mine looked as well. At least my were frozen still!

Just catching up on this, makes me sick to my stomach. My apologies to everyone for delivering what is very clearly not the promised quality. This is disappointing to me on many levels…these never should have left the warehouse much less been sold to us as represented.

As promised, we will make this right by everyone. Again, very sorry for not delivering and not catching this sooner. Please email customercare@holygrailprovisions.com. Any issues please email me ch at holygrailprovisions.com.

Well I appreciate Cam’s response to this mess. I emailed customer service as well.

These were shipped with 15lbs of dry ice or more…Unfortunately, UPS dropped the ball here…we gave them the steaks on Wednesday and they should have arrived Fri or Sat, not Monday. If you did throw the steaks in the fridge by chance, and this is up to you, but if it was me, I would still eat them (disclosure: official FDA rec is don’t eat if it went over 40 degrees but my personal opinion is that is overly cautious for vacuum sealed and hard frozen at -20 degrees steaks). Those actually look pretty good though I agree they aren’t as pretty as the pic on our website (which I asked the team to remove, its too perfect and sets too high an expectation) and they are free.

yes, its a long story but the Japanese were never able to trademark Kobe because they lacked a trade treaty with the US that recognized places of significance similar to our treaty with Europe recognizing Champagne, Bordeaux, Barolo, Permesan Reggiano etc. I actually worked with the Japanese embassy for years trying to get them to get the treaty done and trademark protect the term but they seemed otherwise occupied with other trade issues and it never got done. They really didn’t give a shit at the end of the day it was explained to me by the US trade delegate.

So, do I agree with having Kobe on the package? Nope, we use and market the genetic line of Tajima.

I’ve checked in with my warehouse guys and customer service and it looks like these poor performers are mostly outliers…we have sold thousands of these and only had a handful of complaints. I have asked them to review the inventory in the freezer (when it comes out for packing it frosts up a bit and it harder to tell) so they can better visually inspect the steaks and kick out anything that doesn’t meet the spec.

I think the pic they chose was too perfect as well and, quite frankly, looks like a BMS 9, not a 7-8. It just set too high of an expectation.

At the end of the day, that is on me…I have been buried in other projects and failed to catch the pic.

By the way, we reviewed our warehouse inventory this AM and the steaks all hit the spec.

Unfortunately, I suspect there was a run in a previous batch that didn’t fit the spec, didn’t get identified and it appears a few of you got them. Again, I am sorry about that.

Basically, the spectrum of steaks and caps is from this:

to this:

I believe all of these hit the spec. The warehouse folks are being more vigilant about inspections so I think it is safe for folks to resume ordering. As always, we stand behind everything we sell and will do what to takes to make it right when we F up.

For a hot minute there, that was my take. But, after further review, I don’t believe that to be the case.
