Super Bowl Wines

Curds are what they press into blocks to form cheese. Like the lumps in cottage cheese. Yum. [shock.gif]

The folks hosting the party are having a “Mexican food themed” party so I’m bringing a six-pack of Full Sail.

Fantastic when fresh, pretty good when breaded and fried, not very remarkable if raw and more than 2 days old.

From my rather fuzzy memory of yesterday/last night:

2002 Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet
2008 Rivers Marie Chardonnay
2008 SQN Kolibri
1996 Jadot Richebourg
2005 Alban Grenache
2003 Cos
1995 Araujo Cab
1999 Dalla Valle
2007 Epoch Ingenuity
2002 Karl Lawrence Cab (3 liter)
MV Krug
2002 Turley Hayne PS

Playing a bit of ‘Monday morning quarterback here…’

Made a bunch of ‘finger food’ - chips and fresh salsa, peel and eat shrimp, 3 different types of meatballs (beef & onions, sausage & cheddar, salmon & dijon), eggplant towers, etc.

We drank the last of a case of 2007 Domaine les Pallières Gigondas Terrasse du Diable, which towards the end of the game went really well with hand fulls of black licorice.

BTW, the Steelers were the better team, but then again they always are. At least I got to watch Liverpool beat Chelsea earlier in the day…

Celebrating the lesser team (at least in terms of healthy starters) with no turnovers, we had:

2007 Tercero Cuvee Christie
2008/9 Lindemann’s Moscato
2006 Estancia Cabernet Paso Robles
2000 Dalla Valle Cabernet Napa Valley
2007 Carlisle Zinfandel Carlisle Vineyard
2007 Linne Calodo Outsider
NV Roederer Estate Brut

We didn’t have the lineup others did, but it was fun. Being a mixed party in terms of wine interest there was also a fair amount of beer, including Point 2012 Black Ale, Furthermore Oscura, Deschutes The Abyss, and some concoction my wife called “beergaritas.”

  • 1996 Harlan

2005 Carlisle Two Acres
1990 Prunotto Barolo Bussia
2003 Galardi Terra di Lavoro
1999 Clos Erasmus
2002 Inniskillin Cab Franc Icewine
Glen Grant 25 year old scotch for the guys
Drambuie for the lasses

Which was Gleefully opened I believe after you left.

Hummmm …

I had one can of Diet Rootbeer. Mug.

But I’m picking things up tonight - Diet Canada Dry Ginger Ale

I seem to have missed that one. Go figure.

went to look for 5 lbs of live shrimps but they were out :frowning: we were going to have them raw and deep fried the head.
so we ended up getting 144 misc live oysters and 13lbs of live clams and mussels to seatm it in sake broth
