Lugeresque Dinner Episode V - The Whino’s Strike Back

Date & Time : Sunday January 31 - 11:30am arrival time, Luncheon - 12-4pm-ish
Menu: various passed appetizers, Luger’s Porterhouse steaks, fried potatoes, creamed spinach, dessert & a cheese course from Murray’s - http://www.murrayscheese.com/ (Keith Levenberg will continue as the “Cheese Guru”)
Cost : $115 ($120 if using PayPal) = all inclusive of food, chesse course, tax & tip.
Payment : I will have to have payment at least a week in advance of the dinner. DEADLINE IS JANUARY 25, 2010. If you bow out, you will be refunded fully if (A) the meat hasn’t already been paid for (it has to be pre-paid for by the restaurant), or (B) you find a person who can adequately replace you and your wine. I can’t be worried about getting payment from 50 or so people the night of the dinner, so please get it to me as soon as feasible.

Table size is limited to 10 people each. If anyone wants to step up and organize a table, let me know. I suggest separate threads for each table to organize their wine.
The generosity of the wine drinking community never, ever ceases to amaze me. There are those of you who know the story of Anna McKinney and the auctions Jordan Whitehead has organized to help her beleaugered family out. For those who don’t, please follow this link to Jordan’s post: http://www.wineberserkers.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=11328. A fellow board member and participant in this years Lugeresque Luncheon has most generously donated an Imperial (yes, 6L) of 1978 Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet to be opened at the Luger Luncheon. We will ask $20 per person from those who wish to get a glass or two of this wonderful wine. ALL proceeds from this wil be donated to the McKinney family to help offset their mind boggling medical expenses. We will need a minimum of 40 people to participate for this to happen otherwise the bottle will be sent off to auction where the proceeds will then be donated to the family. Please contact anybody participating in the luncheon who don’t frequent the board too often and ask them to join in on this. I would also ask folks to bring extra decanters so that we will have 8 - one for each table. If you choose not to participate, you will not be able to try the wine. I will hand out vouchers of some sort to those who are paid in full and also designate on the main thread those who have paid for this. When paying for the lunch, please include the extra money if you wish to join in on this. Again, an amazing show of generosity, let’s repay it to the McKinney family who really needs all the help and support they can get.

Pratt’s Inn ( http://www.prattsinn.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) itself has up to 3 rooms available although you may share the room with some spirits (not vodka or bourbon either). They are reasonable and only a short walk up the stairs.
