Received it in the mail yesterday. Three 2007 chards (Estate, North Slope, Cahill Lane), two 2007 pinots (Estate, Three Rows) and the 2008 sauv blanc. All prices are the same as last year, according to the mailer. I generally like the QPR from Hansel, but there are many I haven’t tried. I also have heard nothing about the 2007s. Any of you Berserkers out there care to drop some knowledge on me?
FWIW this is a change from how they released the wines last year. Personally I think the best wines are coming in the fall release. I am a big fan of the Cuvee Alyce, Cahill and North Slope Pinots and the Cuvee Alyce Chardonnay. These are the ones I’ll be waiting on for that fall release.
not on this list but have had North Slope PN in several vintages and have always enjoyed that wine. 05 is quite good already!
I agree with you that the fall release has some great bottles. I think I will pick up some of the single vineyard chards from the present release and wait until the fall to stock up on more WH pinot. Fortunately or not, I graduated from the Maybach wait list since I started this thread (thanks, economic downturn). This puts downward pressure on the number of bottles I will order from WH this go-round.
The 06 Cuvee Alyce Chardonnay is superb and a bargain for $35. Not so thrilled with the 06 North Slope PN.
