Studio Kitchen - Philadelphia

I’m booked for Friday (solo) but can switch. Brian Thorne (+ wife) is, I believe, booked for Saturday, but can switch.

Chris, both dinners are still listed on his website. And what do you mean by folks holding the dinner “hostage”?

Chris, SHhla said he’s get back to me today. I am looking at Saturday Night. Unfortunately have golf and dinner on Friday,

Bob, a group of ten wanted one night but that wouldn’t work due to reservations already booked so they were going to have two groups of 5, one group for each night. Then yesterday they completely backed out if they couldn’t have ten together. You will now see a cancellation policy on the site going forward.

In case you hadn’t seen, it was definitely ppd/cancelled.

So Shola has cancelled for either night and as he explains in his email, I don’t blame him. Chefs like him are very organized andnthis was just going to be too much too late especially trying to get the ingredeints starting today. Nice olive branc for those who have non refundable hotel reservations. Now two days away and no reservation for a birthday dinner.

Maybe time to try Osteria or Chifa.

I’m thinking about still going down, because my room Friday is paid for. Though less likely because my SO wasn’t able to make the trip, anyway. Though the NYT had a brief and really nice review of a BYOB French place that is hot - just blanking on the name, though eG has a thread on it. Suspect it is booked.

Bibou yeah it’s all the rage two former chefs from Le Bec Fin

Check Open Table, but it is booked for Saturday night I checked already

Yeah, major bummer that the corn dinners were cancelled; the party of 10 (make that two parties of 5) that screwed everything up needs to be publicly flogged! IDSK 2.0 was one of the very best meals I’ve had all year, and am looking forward to 3.0.

My wife and I are going to try out Marigold Kitchen tonight since we now have some free time on our hands; they have a new owner/chef (I read Alinea on his resume) so we’ll see how that goes. I think they’ve only been re-opened for a week, but they have a tasting menu option, and are BYOB.

Chris, Bibou is definitely worth checking out; looks like they have an opening on Saturday at 8PM.

Brian

Brian report back on Marigold Kitchen. I was thinking of going Saturday night but I don’t have that adventurous nature on recently opened restaurants. Yesterday there was no openings at Bibou. So I just made one at 8:00 for Saturday, looks like I got the last one,

The 3 of us should coordinate a mini offline at the next IDSK

Mark,

Will do re: Marigold Kitchen; it was nice under the previous chef/owner, but the concept has changed pretty dramatically. I’m signed up for the Saturday dinner for IDSK3 in October.

See you all at the Saturday IDSK3.

Thought about it, but am going to pass on driving down this afternoon. Though the room is paid for, I’ll save myself the hassle of driving through NJ fighting holiday weekend traffic. If Leslie was coming with me I’d do it. But October is just around the corner.

Looking forward to tonight’s IDSK3 dinner.
