Very glad to see this offer, as it is one of (if not the) only French-specialized retailer thus far, which is my main preference!

The value propositions of some of these packages are hard to assess:

For example, having gotten ChatGPT (all 4o) to look-up and comment upon pricing of the " BD16: Grower Champagne Six-Pack", it says:

" After researching the current market prices for each of the three Champagnes included in the BD16 Grower Champagne Six-Pack, here are the findings:

  1. Bardoux Champagne Brut “Traditionnel” NV :

• This Champagne is relatively rare in the U.S. market, making precise pricing information limited. However, available data suggests an average price of approximately $20 per 750ml bottle.

  1. Coutier Champagne CuvĂŠe Tradition NV :

• The average price for this Champagne is around $52 per 750ml bottle.

  1. Lancelot-Royer Champagne Brut “Chevaliers” NV :

• The average price for this Champagne is approximately $58 per 750ml bottle.

Price Comparison :

The BD16 Grower Champagne Six-Pack is priced at $350 and includes two bottles of each Champagne, totaling six bottles. Calculating the individual market prices:

• 2 bottles of Bardoux Champagne Brut “Traditionnel” NV: 2 x $20 = $40

• 2 bottles of Coutier Champagne Cuvée Tradition NV: 2 x $52 = $104

• 2 bottles of Lancelot-Royer Champagne Brut “Chevaliers” NV: 2 x $58 = $116

Total estimated market value: $40 + $104 + $116 = $260

Comparing this to the six-pack offer price of $350, the package is priced approximately $90 above the combined market value of the individual bottles."

Some of this was incorrect, as pointed out below. Here is a revised assessment, given no other viable US source for the first-listed Champagne, per ChatGPT:

"Upon conducting a more thorough search for the Champagnes included in the BD16 Grower Champagne Six-Pack, I have updated the pricing information and analysis as follows:

BD16: Grower Champagne Six-Pack

• Price: Originally $390, currently offered at $350.

• Contents :

• 2 bottles of Bardoux Champagne Brut “Traditionnel” NV

• 2 bottles of Coutier Champagne Cuvée Tradition NV

• 2 bottles of Lancelot-Royer Champagne Brut “Chevaliers” NV

Updated Market Prices :

  1. Bardoux Champagne Brut “Traditionnel” NV :

• Available in the U.S. at Ansonia Wines for $59 per bottle.

• Source:

  1. Coutier Champagne CuvĂŠe Tradition NV :

• Available at Plum Market for $59.99 per bottle.

• Source:

  1. Lancelot-Royer Champagne Brut “Chevaliers” NV :

• Available at Ansonia Wines for $65 per bottle.

• Source:

Total Market Value Calculation :

• Bardoux: 2 bottles x $59 = $118

• Coutier: 2 bottles x $59.99 = $119.98

• Lancelot-Royer: 2 bottles x $65 = $130

• Combined Total: $118 + $119.98 + $130 = $367.98

Comparison :

• Offer Price : $350

• Market Value: $367.98

• Difference: $350 - $367.98 = -$17.98

The BD16 Grower Champagne Six-Pack is priced approximately $17.98 below the combined market value of the individual bottles, representing a modest savings. Additionally, the convenience of acquiring these specific grower Champagnes together with included shipping enhances the overall value of the offer."

Having manually assessed this with Wine-Searcher, I can confirm that I can obtain all these 6 bottles, for approximately $300, inclusive of shipping (to PA).

Including their work sourcing and selecting these, and the convenience of the offerings, many packages do appear to be of good value.

There are some particular options of note: I cannot obtain the wines within the “BD16: Red Burgundy Six-Pack #2” for less, and the package appears very well-priced, since it would cost me ~ $50–75 more to source these individually. That package is beyond what I’m looking to spend here, but I’d recommend that one to anyone interested.

The “BD16: Roc Breia Sampler (4)” also appears to be quite good value: ~ $40 less than I can source from NY stores, and better prices even than at recent Auctions (comparable, inclusive of shipping, but saving on the Buyer’s Premium!).

I’d be interested in this community’s thoughts on this.

Thrilled to hear from the CR fans! Ask and you shall receive:

Hi Coby! If you can find Bardoux (or any good Champagne) for $20/bottle I’d say buy all you can that’s a crazy good price!

Fair enough! Appreciate this insight, especially as I’m not familiar with them yet. They appear mainly available from Spain, admittedly. So perhaps this portion of the analysis was unfair—will revise!

Which stores out of curiosity? They’re quite a small operation (we know them personally, as we do all of our winemakers), for a while we were their only US importer.

You’re quite right—apologies. The importer I’d found was an old page, for a couple NY stores that no longer carry them. I’m revising things above accordingly. Apologies for the mistake and UI really appreciate your correction and candor!
