No update here, but we’re in Clearwater Beach next week. Dining in Dunedin Sa & Su.
Black Pearl in Dunedin is very good and worth a bit of a drive. In ST Pete Olvia just opened their 2nd location. Highly recommended to go for modern Italian and good BTG options. They also allow corkage. if you can’t get a reservation sitting at the bar or share tables are a good option.
Gavin, I assume you are asking about downtown and not the beach side. Some of my favorite places right now are Fortu, Juno and the Peacock, Allelo and Il Ritorno. I haven’t been to Olivia yet but I have been to the one in Tampa and I prefer Il Ritorno if I want Italian. Every place I’ve been in St Pete allows corkage.
One place I like a lot is Bin6South. One table with 6 chairs and 6 seats at the bar. So 12 seats total. Fun sitting at the bar interacting with the chefs. They sell wine retail as well. You can find some interesting wines on the list.
Jack’s London Grill probably has the best British pub food I’ve had here or across the pond. The fish and chips, shepherds pie, scotch egg, chicken curry, French onion soup all good. Sometimes they have haggis as a special. Good place for lunch. Good beer. They also sell a sourdough bread to go for $6 that is fantastic. I always bring a loaf home to NJ on my return.
If you are eating in, Mazzaro’s is a good place to go to get food. Good butcher, fresh pasta, prepared foods. They also have an excellent wine selection mainly Italian but I’ve found stuff like Chave and Único there in the past.
Feel free to pm me on any place you might be curious about. I’ve been to a lot of other places as well.
We’re going to Black Pearl and Parlor House Bistro, maybe on the latter.
Thanks so much, @Tom_G_l_a_s_g_o_w , @F.Daner, and @Paul_Jaouen.
First time for me. Indeed - staying on the downtown side, though hope to make it over to the water when possible.
Any updates for Tampa somewhat near the stadium?
There’s nothing I like near the stadium. These are all 15 to 20 minutes away:
Rooster and the Till is my current favorite restaurant. Make a reservation for the counter. Definitely order the Cobia Cheeks. Wine list is not great but you will be able to find something.
Ulele by the riverwalk is excellent. I don’t know about the wine list. I usually bring my own or drink beer since they have a nice beer list… Nice tables outside. Lots of other restaurants in the area if you want to check it out. Rocca is very good Italian restaurant in the area with a one Michelin star.
Recent new restaurant called Barcelona has a good Spanish wine list and lots of very good tapas.
Babushka’s is one of my favorite places right now. Siberian dumplings in chicken broth is delicious. It’s not very wine friendly, but you can sub out vodka no problem…
It’s also about 15 minutes away from the stadium.
My wife and I always laugh when we pass that place The name and outside decor just gives us a chuckle. We always say we should try it but haven’t yet. Thanks for the push.
I’ve been to all the downtown places you mentioned and Babushka is so worth the drive.
I’ve been told to try Valentino’s in Clearwater, so that’s on the list.
Rocca as Paul mentioned and Oak and Ola. Both are in the Armature Works complex and that whole area is worth checking out. Quick 12-15 minutes from the stadium depending on traffic.
Olivia is also a great spot in South Tampa for Modern Italian.
Fisk- sit at the bar for small plates. casual ala carte option of Ebbe *1 star tasting menu focused on Nordics/Swedish. A bit weird how they set it up as it’s basically the same physical restaurant. same staff and kitchen.
Thanks guys!
