Whatever the least balanced, most manipulated, ripest 16+% ABV analogue you can think of. That’s where these wines fit on the spectrum.
Paging sanctimonious white knight @David_Baum to explain why only he is allowed to bestow permission to others to resell their allocation without shame, and why only he is allowed to troll in the holy release threads.
It was unheard of to pass on SQN not too long ago. This is pretty interesting and I wonder if it will force any self-reflection at SQN and how they force allocations or drop you without warning but I doubt it.
Yep - but that has certainly changed over the past few releases - probably a combo of FOMO not being as important any more, changing tastes, folks having amassed enought of them, and a few other reasons. I don’t think pricing has been the issue up to this point - but it certainly has been mentioned here more than ever. In addition, people are finding they can scratch a similar itch with other brands that are less expensive (but one could argue that you can ‘mimic’ but not reproduce SQN).
At the end of the day, I’m not sure this will change what SQN does - they are who they are
i think it is all of the reasons you mentioned + they are making a lot more wine (across various labels) and Manfred not being active in the outward facing part of the business i also think has an impact. And i think this significant price jump, during this type of market and against the backdrop of declining value was a very poor decision if more than short term cash flow is the goal.
