Wondering what others opinions are on Spurrier. I really have a hard time trying to find a place from him.

Interesting read, Gary. Didn’t realize that he was on the financial edge much of his life. Nor the threats to
the Frenchmen who were tasting in the JudgementInParis.
I read his articles when I come upon them. He comes from the old-line school of British wine criticism and I find
his writings a bit on the stodgy side and don’t often learn much from them.

I respect Spurrier’s palate, particularly regarding Bordeaux, and read his articles and tasting notes in Decanter with interest. I think about him more as a knowledgeable wine taster and journalist rather than in relation to the Judgment of Paris tasting.
