Spring Mountain Sale of Elivette wines

In real time.

I emailed them yesterday since the June 2nd ship date came and went as did cooler temps. They were quick to respond and are holding my order until October 13th which I am quite happy with.

Chris

Same here- multiple orders updated to October 13th ship date. With the exception one order was ā€œtooā€ far along and could not be stopped. Set to ship out some time this week to VA (no shipping details sent yet as of today) fingers crossed as its getting hot up in here…

They told me the same thing, that one was too far along. I asked them to cancel, and they told me it was now postponed. Yet I just got the shipping notification - its going to be cooked I fear. This was totally bungled.

Overnight they must have found a bunch more Elivette, they went from 17 SKUs last night to 65 SKUs this morning. 2013 and then some available. I ordered a ā€œbitā€ more.

a bunch of mags added back in… damn.

Everyone canceling from Texas and Florida.

Things i dont need an update on….more wine available at blowout prices. I already have 3 orders.

And I too. But I am getting better, 12 bottles then 8 then 6. I’m in the dog house if they put their Cabs and/or varietals on sale.

I think it was identified up thread that they would not. Only blowing out the Elivette as it’s the former owners wife/mother/ daughter/grandmothers name, so new owners want to start fresh.

Weather was good the first week of June to ship to me, then no info on the website. I emailed asking if they shipped, no reply for 3-4 days. The reply was ā€œwe have been overwhelmed with orders, but we will start shipping 1-2 weeks with ice packsā€. I am out of town next week where temps will be 90-100 degrees, so I asked that they hold till fall. That was on Monday and still no reply. Hopefully they delay.
Great deal, but poor communication… at least in my case!

Anyone have this wine yet?:joy:

Mine arrived today. It was shipped with regular cardboard trays but the box was lined with insulation. There were a couple of ice packs included and the bottles were cool on arrival although it didn’t travel far as I live near Santa Cruz.

Same, came in and cool. Icepacks and insulated shipping. I’m going to open the 15 with some pizza tonight. Possibly terrible idea if there is any travel shock and I’m sure the sediment is all shaken but what hell, you only live once. If it’s great I’ll buy more (assuming there is some) and then report back

2015 was amazing. For a $40 wine hits well above. Notes of blackberry, raspberry, hint of mint, crushed leaves, plum. Full bodied but very smooth texture. Tannins are soft but present so will go well with some heavier meats(originally planned a steak and potatoes but a pizza called my name today). It’s still very fruit forward. Medium finish. Super easy to drink and one of the smoothest 2015s I’ve had recently. Side note I loved the 2015 vintage initially as a more intense vintage but as it’s aged it’s been rougher rather than smoother with some of the wines I’ve had. This doesn’t necessarily agree but also didn’t have it when I first released. Either way convinced me to experiment some more and grabbed a few random vintages, sad they didn’t have the 375s left in the younger vintages. But a whole lot of the older vintages showed up. Also shipping is weird now, you have options (ups, FedEx, 2 day) and the only date available was October for me.

How would you feel if that bottle was $150+? (Ie: original winery price)

Based on the ā€˜15 you tried, are you buying more ā€˜15 in addition to the other random vintages?

Lack of CT entries is killing me…curious minds here, folks! Is there a ā€˜similar’ bottle you’ve recently had to that '15 (either in general quality or of similar taste profile) that you could share?

It’s awesome stuff and ages well.

Have been to the vineyard multiple times. Was crafter with no regards to price for the previous owner to share with his friends in Europe.

Got turned onto it by a former wine manager from trotters in Chicago.

The cab is traditionally the best value, but at this price you won’t be disappointed

I’d say I can see why it fits the category of price. I don’t think it should not be there. Would I buy it at $150 I don’t know. Probably not in a store but if I was at the winery maybe. I did buy the '18 of this for $125 when I visited a couple years back. I did enjoy the 05 and 04 they poured for us then as well. I want to say this was the more expensive wine than the cab.

This is a blend, and it’s really well blended to feel super balanced and nuanced. What I’d say it lacks it the intensity/heavier style of Napa generally speaking. I did not get more of the 15 cause I didn’t see it except in a magnum. I decided to gamble with a few different other vintages and probably share with the some folks here.

I cant think of a specific comparable. I had the 15 Odette Cabernet earlier this year but it was not a blend like this and just much more intense/monsterous if you compare it. I’d say its much more Bordeaux style without the heavier tertiary flavors.
